Water Rats Gig on 21st Nov

Shelly just let us know that she is confirmed to play at the Water Rats on the 21st of November (Wednesday). This will probably be the last gig before Christmas, since a part of the new album has been scrapped again. Shelly will be taking time off from now till Christmas to rethink the music, and she’ll be starting next Monday.

Thanks for coming,

Simon’s been doing the Alisha’s site for years off his own back and much better than all the pro’s so I asked him if he could make us a nice place to come, and he has… thanks Si and I hope to chat with you guys on here soon.

I feel obliged to tell you the story so far…

Not content with just an online release, which will happen first tho early next year, I’ve been writing with an agenda of what I would class as radio singles. Then after much ado I’ve realised the songs don’t fit with the body of work so far and I love the body of work so far even if it is a little eclectic yum of a work, so I’ve scrapped the idea and am now finishing the last 3 songs and then I’m off and ready… I’ve recorded Painkiller once already but i want to re-record it the way we do it live so I’ll have to do that too when I can get all the boys in the same room.

So I think so far it’s like this:

I Will See You Again
Painkiller
Don’t Come Around Here
A Heart Not A Hole
Caves (new one still only in my head at the mo not on tape!)

Then a little acoustic gem as xtra track (Alien).

I think I’ve dumped I Don’t Need Anyone, I used to love this the most, I’m maybe being too picky as it’s a good song. In fact, listen and be the judge.

New Album is “In Gold”

Shelly has tentatively called her new album “In Gold”, the follow up to 2005’s “Hard Time For The Dreamer”. It’s more up-tempo (around 100 bpm) and will be very different from her first solo album. In keeping with the first album, this will feature duets, but this time with Charity Hair, who performed “Do What You Want” alongside Shelly at many of her gigs in 2006.

So far the track listing may include:

Lost In You Single to have CD Release

The track listing for Shelly’s next single, Lost In You, has been announced, but that’s not the most exciting news we’ve had today. The single will have a physical CD release, on sale in places like HMV!

Also, a remix of Lost In You by Dirty Vegas has been announced and a clip made available for download on shellypoole.com, but there is no word yet on why it didn’t make the CD single release. Shelly mentioned that there may be more b-sides as part of the digital release on iTunes, so we may see it there.

Little Wonder Single and B-Sides for Download

Little Wonder was released this week as the second single from the Hard Time For The Dreamer album. Although the second single, it is being called the main single after Totally Underwater was released on iTunes as a free download.

The new single will only be available on iTunes as a digital download and will not see a traditional CD release. It appears alongside two b-sides, Liar and Give It Your Best (originally slated to be an album track). The entire single is available as the “Little Wonder EP” for £2.37.

Little Wonder was released on the 19th of September 2005 on the Transistor Project label. Please note that Shelly’s CD album was originally supposed to be released on Monday, but has been postponed one week till the 26th of September 2005.
